Management Team

Paul Valenti – General Manager

A hospitality professional who has dedicated his working life to GEMA Group, Paul has been instrumental in growing the business into a successful events, catering and venue management company with a national, and soon to be international reach. Utilising his 25 years+ experience across all areas of the business Paul works strategically with clients to identify new and exciting ways to engage with their markets and strengthen their brand, while also being commercially competitive.

Darren Bayley – National Operations Manager

Darren is a qualified chef, who after working in some of country’s best known restaurants and high volume commercial kitchens moved into the business and operational side of the industry. With over 30 years’ hands on experience he brings the wealth of knowledge and maturity required when managing multiple sites, large numbers of staff and the associated operational intricacies. Familiar with the full spectrum of venue and events operations, Darren provides strong leadership and sets high standards for all staff; front and back of house and maintains trusted and respected relationships both internally and externally.


Phil Batty – 
National Business Development Manager

With a hospitality career spanning more than 25 years across Australia and the UK, Phil joined GEMA Group in 2015 as National Business Development Manager.  A team and people oriented leader with commitment to service excellence, Phil understands the importance of a motivated and well trained team when it comes to delivering optimum outcomes for all stakeholders. Importantly, he brings a wealth of sports and wider functions and events experience to our team having previously been responsible for the Dairy Farmers Stadium and RSL Stadium in North Queensland, Melbourne and Olympic Park venues, and six stadia across the North of England.

Joe Krilic – Chief Financial Officer

A Certified Practising Accountant, Joe has worked as Chief Financial Officer with GEMA Group for over seven years.  He holds a Degree from Sydney University and a Post Graduate Qualification from the University of Technology, Sydney and has been a Professional Member of CPA Australia since January 1998.  An experience and skilled financial manager his background includes six years working for a US Multi National in a manufacturing and distribution environment and Finance Manager with five years’ experience in the Building and Construction Industry.
